My Story

For those that want to know my story . . .

Going to Church

Growing up, my mom was a Christian, but my dad wasn’t. She would take me and my brothers to church every Sunday. My dad chose to stay home on Sundays. I learned about the different stories in the Bible, but to me it was just a bunch of stories I learned on Sunday.

Awanas

When we moved to Arizona from Kansas, she started to take us to Awanas, which is a children’s program held at church one weekday evening each week.

During Awanas one evening we were told what it means to be a Christian. Everyone was asked if we wanted to learn more. I raised my hand. Someone took me aside to explain more about what it means to be a Christian. It was then that I decided to become a Christian.

Growing as a Christian

Growing as a Christian was a gradual process for me. I went to church because I wanted to because this was my faith, not just my mom’s. What I learned in church took on a greater meaning for me. My desire to understand the Bible increased as I grew in the faith. When I was in High School I studied the Bible deeply to understand who God is and what He wanted to do in my life. This grounded me for the tough times.

I believe God has a plan for me. The more I pursue what He wants, the more I feel fulfilled in life.
