New Year’s Resolution

As the end of the year approached, the holiday season was in full swing. People were bustling about, making last-minute gift purchases, and preparing for festive gatherings. Amidst all the excitement, conversations inevitably turned towards the topic of New Year's resolutions.

At a lively New Year's Eve party, a group of friends gathered around a crackling fireplace, sipping on hot cocoa and sharing their plans and aspirations for the coming year. The room was filled with laughter and the warm glow of twinkling lights.

One of the friends, Sarah, turned to Bob and asked, "Have you made your New Year's resolution yet?"

Bob, known for his playful sense of humor and knack for philosophical musings, grinned and replied, "Oh, I definitely have."

Curious, the group leaned in closer. "Well, what is it?" they asked in unison.

Bob took a deep breath and announced with a twinkle in his eye, "My New Year's resolution is to not keep my New Year's resolution."

A moment of silence followed as everyone processed what he had just said. Then, Sarah furrowed her brow and asked, "Wait, what does that even mean?"

Bob chuckled and leaned back in his chair. "Think about it," he began to explain. "If I keep my resolution to not keep my resolution, that means I didn't keep it. But if I don't keep my resolution, then that means I did keep it.  I figure that this will count as keeping 50% of my New Year's Resolution, which is much better than 99% of the population."
